Barn Wedding Shropshire
Frequently Asked Questions

How Would You Describe Your Style?

My style and approach to photographing weddings is natural, relaxed and unobtrusive. I take a very informal approach to photographing weddings through candid photography whilst keeping formal photographs to a minimum.

I like to provide my clients with a mixture of photographs from their day which includes the details of their venue/s, candid photographs throughout the entire day, a handful of group photographs, bride & groom portraits.

What Services Do You Offer?

I offer two types of wedding packages: 1. Wedding Photography
2. Wedding Photography & Film Details of these packages can be found on the "PRICES" section of my website. Additional options such as adding morning preparations of the bride/groom, a pre wedding photo shoot, USB's and wedding albums are also available at an additional fee.

Do You Offer A No Obligation Consultation Prior To Booking?

Yes, I do. I think it's important for a couple to meet with their potential photographer prior to booking to make sure they are a good match. Most consultations now take place via Skype or Zoom, however if you would prefer to meet with me before booking, just let me know, and we can arrange a date. Consultations will take place during week day evenings, due to being booked for weddings at weekends. However, I know that this may not be convenient for everyone, so I am flexible with this where possible. With all of my consultations there is no obligation to book with me, and there is no obligation to make a decision whilst your consultation is taking place. It is important for every couple to find the perfect photographer for them, and I know that my style isn't suited to everyone.

How Do We Book You?

If you have already decided that I'm the photographer for you, that's great! Simply just pop me an email or fill out the contact form on my website to check if I'm available. I love to hear about everyone's wedding plans so please feel free to provide as much information as possible.

Once I have received your date, I can then check my diary to see if I am available and get back to you, I do try to respond within 48 hours. If you haven't recieved a response, please also check your spam folder.
When you are ready to secure your booking, I will send you a booking form to complete, this will need to be completed in full and must be signed by both parties. The completed form must be returned with the booking fee to secure your booking. The booking fee will be deducted from the overall balance due and secures not only my services as your photographer, but also my second photographer too.

What Happens If You Are Ill On Our Wedding Day?

In all of the years that I have been photographing weddings, I haven't missed a wedding yet. However, if circumstances were to arise and I wasn't able to attend your wedding, I would either ask my second photographer to step up as the main photographer for me and call in another second photographer to assist them, or I would find an associate photographer to step in as the main photographer for me. Either way, you would be covered and would not be left without a photographer for your wedding day.

The photographers that I work with compliment my photography style and are aware of how I work at weddings. They also have their own wedding photography businesses as well, and are very experienced photographers.

What Happens If You Test Positive For Covid?

If this were the case, I would obviously need to isolate along with my family to ensure we do not spread this awful virus.

Should I be unable to attend your wedding due to Covid, I would either ask my second photographer to step up as the main photographer for me and call in another second photographer to assist them, or I would find an associate photographer to step in as the main photographer for me. Either way, you would be covered and would not be left without a photographer for your wedding day.

Once your wedding has taken place, I will edit your photographs in my signiture style for you.

If you change your wedding date to a date without liaising with me and I am unavailable due to already being booked, I will have no choice but to accept this as notice of your cancellation.

This are very difficult times at the moment, and I understand how heartbreaking it is for everyone, however I do have to advise that communication is the key at the moment.

If you choose to postpone your wedding (and weddings are able to ago ahead), without having contacted me first to check my availability and I am already booked, I will have no choice but to take this as notice of your cancellation.

Why Do You Have A Second Photographer?

My full day and half day wedding packages includes a second photographer at no extra cost to yourselves- why I hear you ask! By having a second photographer, it means that we are able to cover your day from two different view points, It also means that they are also able to cover different aspects of your wedding day that I wouldn't be able to with being the main photographer. For example: when I have whisked you away from your guests for an hour to take your first photographs as newly weds, my second photographer will remain with your guests and capture those all important candid moments of them enjoying your day which you would otherwise miss. My second photographer and I work both as a team and individually on your day ensuring that you receive the best selection of photographs possible.

What is a Pre Wedding Shoot

A pre wedding shoot is a chance for us take a few photographs prior to your wedding day and help you feel more relaxed in front of the camera. We will practise a few key poses and have fun whilst catching up about your big day. The shoot gives you a chance to get used to my shooting style and it is all very relaxed.

How Many Photos Will We Receive From Our Pre Wedding Shoot?

With the 30 minute pre wedding shoot, you will receive approximatley 5-10 photographs, and with the 90 minute shoot you will receive approximatley 10-15. It is difficult to advise you of the exact number of photographs you will receive, because every pre wedding shoot is different. After your session, I go through all of the photographs taken and select the ones for you to view. All images are selected at my discretion and as i will remove any photographs where you or your partner look uncomfortable or have your eyes closed. I also do not provide multiple images of the same shot.

Your images will then be uploaded into an online gallery for you to view and download. Please note that any images which are pulled from your selection are deleted immediately
are unavailable for viewing once this has been done.

Where Will Our Pre Wedding Shoot Take Place?

All pre wedding shoots will take place outdoors.

The 30 minute Pre Wedding Shoot will take place at your wedding venue during our venue visit. This will give you an opportunity to choose key locations for your wedding photographs.

At present due to Covid-19, the locations of all 90 minute pre wedding shoots will be chosen by myself. Dont worry though, these will all be outdoors in a beautiful location where it is not too busy.

Do We Need To Provide Food For You On Our Wedding Day?

If my second photographer and I are booked for half day or full day coverage, we will always appreciate it if a small meal and refreshments are provided to help keep our energy levels up. Weddings are expensive so we are more than happy to recive a small meal, we do not expecting to eat the same food as you and your guests during your wedding breakfast. Something such as a small sandwich and a bowl of chips never is more than appreciated.

I do ask that if this is something that you are considering providing to let me know so that we can have a chat about this to prevent any unnecessary illness on your wedding day due to food allergies.

What Happens If You Are Ill On Our Wedding Day?

In the years that I have been photographing weddings, I haven't missed a day yet. However, if circumstances were to arise and I wasn't able to attend your wedding, I would either ask my second photographer to step up for me and call in another second photographer to assist, or I would help you find another photographer if needed. I am also part of a network of photographers that cover each in other in case of an emergency.

I Do Not Like Having My Photo Taken, Is This A Problem?

Not at all. I like most, am not a fan of having my photograph taken and to be honest, I go at grreat lengths to avoid it sometimes. So, I do completley understand when someone tells me that they are not so comfortable in front of the camera.

To reassure you though, my photography style is very natural and relaxed. So I spend most of your day photographing you without you even knowing it.
The only times that I will ask you to pose for photographs is during the few group photographs you would like, which will be discussed prior to your day and also during your newly wed portraits. Your newly wed photographs will take place away from your guests, this is to giev you both a little time to catch up with eachother and to help you feel more relaxed. You will find that on yrou wedding day, when you are alone with each other you will be naturally interacting, and this is what I focus on and hwo I capture those all important shots. I will also guide you through these photos in a very painless and fun way by giving you gentle direction if needed, for example, I may say to you hold hands and walk towards me. Once your group ohotograhs and newly wed photographs have taken place, you will then return to your guests and I will continue to photograph your day as I started, in an candid and unobtrusive way which will ensure that you get to enjoy the time with your family and your guests.

Will You Take Any Group Photographs?

Yes, I will, however I do like to keep these to a minimum.

Before your wedding day we will discuss these and make a list of all the group shots you would like. I ask you to allocate at least 30 minutes of your day for these, but no more than 45 minutes. I find people tend to get bored and wonder off if they are stood waiting for group photographs to be taken. I always advise starting with your large group photograph while everyone is in the same area, and then moving on to the smaller group photos.
I do ask you to allocate a family member or friend to help gather the required people for these photographs as it makes it easier and flow quicker than me trying to find "Aunt Daisy" in a large group of people when I don't know what she looks like.
