Frequently Asked Questions

A: With years of training and experience photographing weddings under my belt, I know how to help clients relax and feel more comfortable in front of the camera. I am a huge fan of using natural light and prefer to use this as often as possible and make sure my sessions are intimate & fun!
My style and approach to photographing weddings is natural, relaxed and unobtrusive. I take a very informal approach to photographing weddings through candid photography whilst keeping formal photographs to a minimum.
I like to provide my clients with a mixture of photographs from their day which includes the details of their venue/s, candid photographs throughout the entire day, a handful of group photographs, couples portraits.
I offer two types of wedding packages:
1. Wedding Photography 2. Wedding Photography & Film
Details of these packages can be found on the "PRICES" section of my website.
Additional options such as adding morning preparations of the bride/groom, a pre wedding photo shoot, USB's and wedding albums are also available at an additional fee.
Yes, I do. I think it's important for a couple to meet with their potential photographer prior to booking to make sure they are a good match. Most consultations now take place via Skype or Zoom, however if you would prefer to meet with me before booking, just let me know, and we can arrange a date.
Consultations will take place during week day evenings, due to being booked for weddings at weekends. However, I know that this may not be convenient for everyone, so I am flexible with this where possible.
With all of my consultations there is no obligation to book with me, and there is no obligation to make a decision whilst your consultation is taking place. It is important for every couple to find the perfect photographer for them, and I know that my style isn't suited to everyone.
If you have decided that I'm the right photographer for you, that's fantastic!
To check my availability, simply send me an email to nickijonesphoto@gmail.com or fill in the contact form on my contact page.
I'm always excited to hear about your wedding plans, so please send me as much information about your day as possible. Once I receive your wedding date, I will confirm my availability and we can proceed with the booking process.
I will send over you a form to complete along with an invoice for your booking fee. Once completed your date will be secured. The booking fee will then be deducted from the total cost of your wedding package.

Once your completed booking form has been returned along with your booking fee, I will confirm your booking in wiriting. We will then arrange a date to visit your venue to discuss your day in more detail and choose locations for your wedding photographs.
I know that people like to keep in touch, and with being out on location a lot, it isn't always possible for me to answer my phone, but I am always at the end of an email or a message. I understand the importance of communication when it comes to your big day, so I always try to answer any queries as quickly as possible.
Approximately 4 weeks prior to your big day I will email you to clarify some finer details such as timings and group photo details. I will then make an schedule for myself and my second photographer to ensure we are in the right place at the right time for you on your day. An invoice will also be sent to you when your final balance is due, and this date will also be confirmed with you when your bookign has been confirmed.
A 40 mile round trip is included in your packages at no additional cost, however any additional mileage will be charged at 45p per mile.
Where there is more than one service included in your wedding package (e.g. videographer) we do try to travel together when possible, however if this is not possible there will be a travel charge per service.
Yes, I do, I have public liability and indemnity insurance with Policy Bee.
As the photographer, I retain the copyright to all photographs taken. The images provided to you are for personal use only and will be provided with a print release form. The print release form allows you to print any of the photographs you receive however you would like to, whether this be as prints / canvas /wedding album etc. Your print release also allows you to print any copies of the images for any of your family members or guests. Should you wish to use any of your images from yoru wedding for anything other than personal use you will be required to purchase a commerical release for these.

My full day and half day wedding packages includes a second photographer at no extra cost to yourselves- why I hear you ask!
By having a second photographer, it means that we are able to cover your day from two different view points, It also means that they are also able to cover different aspects of your wedding day that I wouldn't be able to with being the main photographer. For example: when I have whisked you away from your guests for an hour to take your first photographs as newly weds, my second photographer will remain with your guests and capture those all important candid moments of them enjoying your day which you would otherwise miss.
My second photographer and I work both as a team and individually on your day ensuring that you receive the best selection of photographs possible.
A pre wedding shoot is a chance for us take a few photographs prior to your wedding day and help you feel more relaxed in front of the camera. We will practise a few key poses and have fun whilst catching up about your big day. The shoot gives you a chance to get used to my shooting style and it is all very relaxed.
All pre wedding shoots will take place outdoors.
If your Engagement Shoot is included in your package, this will take place at your wedding venue during our venue visit. This will give you an opportunity to choose key locations for your wedding photographs.
If you are having a pre wedding shoot, you can expect to receive around 30-40 photographs. The exact number of photos may vary, as each pre wedding shoot varies from couple to couple and the final count depends on various factors such as location, lighting, and your personal preferences.
After each session, I review your photographs, as I would on your wedding day and carefully select the best ones for you. I will remove any photographs where you or your partner look uncomfortable or have your eyes closed. I will not provide multiple images of the same shot. Your images will then be uploaded into an online gallery for you to view and download.

If my second photographer and I are booked for half day or full day coverage, we will always appreciate it if a small meal and refreshments are provided to help keep our energy levels up.
Weddings are expensive so we are more than happy to recive a small meal, we do not expecting to eat the same food as you and your guests during your wedding breakfast. Something such as a small sandwich and a bowl of chips never is more than appreciated. I do ask that if this is something that you are considering providing to let me know so that we can have a chat about this to prevent any unnecessary illness on your wedding day due to food allergies.
In the years that I have been photographing weddings, I haven't missed a day yet.
However, if circumstances were to arise and I wasn't able to attend your wedding, I would either ask my second photographer to step up for me and call in another second photographer to assist, or I would help you find another photographer if needed. I am also part of a network of photographers that cover each in other in case of an emergency.
Not at all. I like most, am not a fan of having my photograph taken and to be honest, I go at grreat lengths to avoid it sometimes. So, I do completley understand when someone tells me that they are not so comfortable in front of the camera. To reassure you though, my photography style is very natural and relaxed. So I spend most of your day photographing you without you even knowing it.
The only times that I will ask you to pose for photographs is during the few group photographs you would like, which will be discussed prior to your day and also during your newly wed portraits.
Your newly wed photographs will take place away from your guests, this is to giev you both a little time to catch up with eachother and to help you feel more relaxed. You will find that on yrou wedding day, when you are alone with each other you will be naturally interacting, and this is what I focus on and hwo I capture those all important shots. I will also guide you through these photos in a very painless and fun way by giving you gentle direction if needed, for example, I may say to you hold hands and walk towards me.
Once your group ohotograhs and newly wed photographs have taken place, you will then return to your guests and I will continue to photograph your day as I started, in an candid and unobtrusive way which will ensure that you get to enjoy the time with your family and your guests.
Yes, I will, however I do like to keep these to a minimum. Before your wedding day we will discuss these and make a list of all the group shots you would like. I ask you to allocate at least 30 minutes of your day for these, but no more than 45 minutes. I find people tend to get bored and wonder off if they are stood waiting for group photographs to be taken. I always advise starting with your large group photograph while everyone is in the same area, and then moving on to the smaller group photos.
I do ask you to allocate a family member or friend to help gather the required people for these photographs as it makes it easier and flow quicker than me trying to find "Aunt Daisy" in a large group of people when I don't know what she looks like.

Honestly, not that much. I like to keep it simple. I do not over edit or heavily photoshop my photographs and I promise I won't edit you to within an inch of your life. I like to provide you with wedding photographs that are a true reflection of you on your wedding day. I'll remove a hair strand or a blemish here or there, tweak the odd little details and straighten and minimally crop your photographs. I keep my editing very simple and the colours as true as I can. If you would like to request additional retouching on your photographs, for example the removal of something big in the background or someone removing from your photographs, this would need to be outsourced to a professional retoucher and would come at an additional cost.
It is difficult to advise of the exact number of photographs you will receive from your wedding day, because every wedding is so very different and not everyone has the same photographic coverage. The amount of photographs you will receive also depends on the wedding package that you choose and also on your guests, whether they are happy having their photographs taken.
After shooting a wedding, I do cull the images from your wedding day. I go through all of the photographs taken and select the ones which you will receive. I take out any photographs where guests have their eyes closed, any that are blurred or any that I consider unflattering. Please be aware that I also do not provide multiple images of the same shot. Roughly, on average with full days coverage, you will receive anywhere between 400-500 photographs. My aim is always to provide my clients with as many photographs from their day as possible, however, please be aware that this cannot be a guaranteed number.
Any images which are pulled from your selection are deleted immediately are unavailable for viewing / purchase once this has been done.
No, you will receive high resolution, non watermarked photographs.
No, although I photograph and edit all weddings in colour, I will also provide you with a small selection of images edited in black and white. The number of black and white images provided is dependant on what suits that particular photograph best. Once you have received your onine gallery, if there are any images you would also like to be provided in black and white, just let me know and I will be happy to edit these and add them to your gallery as well.
I know how excited you are to see your wedding photos, so I try to provide you with a preview within 48-72 hours of your wedding (please note that during busy periods this may be longer). Once you have seen this I then schedule your preview to go live on my Instagram / Facebook page, please feel free to tag yourselves and share with your friends and family.
Editing a wedding usually takes around 6-8 weeks, depending on the photographic coverage you choose and the time of year you are getting married. When you book with me, I will advise in your booking form roughly how long this will be. Once your images have been edited, I will provide you with your online wedding gallery, once you have approved your images, I will then set up your online gallery so that you are able to download your images. Once I receive a notification that you have downloaded your images, your online gallery will expire. Should you choose to order a personalised USB, this will take between 1-3 weeks to arrive once this has been ordered, however in peek season, this can take a little longer due to high demand. Your online wedding gallery will remain available to you until you have received your USB, and once this has been received your online gallery will expire.

Absolutely! I'm always happy to travel to photograph your wedding, regardless of the location.
I do ask that travel and accommodation costs be covered. Prior to booking, and I will provide a detailed quote so you are fully aware of any additional expenses. This ensures transparency and allows you to make informed decisions about your special day.
In all of the years that I have been photographing weddings, I haven't missed a wedding yet.
However, if circumstances were to arise and I wasn't able to attend your wedding, I would either ask my second photographer to step up as the main photographer for me and call in another second photographer to assist them, or I would find an associate photographer to step in as the main photographer for me. Either way, you would be covered and would not be left without a photographer for your wedding day. The photographers that I work with compliment my photography style and are aware of how I work at weddings. They also have their own wedding photography businesses as well, and are very experienced photographers.
If you choose to postpone your wedding, please contact me to advise of the dates you are thinking of postponing to so that I can let you know if I am available or not. If you choose to postpone your wedding without having contacted me first to check my availability and I am already booked, I will have no choice but to take this as notice of your cancellation. Normal T&C's will apply.
