Dawn & Dom’s Wonderful Elopement in Portmeirion, North Wales

As a wedding photographer, some wedding days just stay with you forever and Dawn & Dom’s elopement to Portmeirion in North Wales is definitely one of them. One of my absolute favourite places to be, Portmeirion feels like you’ve stepped straight into the Italian Riviera without leaving the UK. Think vibrant buildings, hidden corners, winding coastal paths, and that magical, slightly surreal charm that makes it feel like nowhere else.

Despite what the weather threw at us (and believe me, it threw everything!), Dawn & Dom were absolute legends. The day turned out to be my windiest and wettest wedding to date but also one of the most joyful. If there was ever a couple who rolled with the elements and made it their own, it was these two.

Their ceremony was intimate, meaningful, and full of giggles. Afterwards we ducked in and out of shelter, found moments of calm between gusts, and made the most of every colourful corner Portmeirion has to offer. They laughed through it all and were completely present, and completely themselves.

Elopements like this are such a reminder that a wedding day doesn’t have to be perfect to be perfect. The wind howled, the rain soaked us through, and still it was beautiful. Portmeirion, as always, brought the drama and the magic, and I honestly loved every second of exploring the village with these two. We embraced the chaos, chased pockets of light, and got creative with where and how we shot—and the result was a set of images full of colour, connection, and fun.
