A Dreamy DIY Barn Wedding in the Heart of Shropshire

If you’re dreaming of a laid-back wedding with stunning countryside views, hand-crafted details, and a real sense of family, this DIY barn wedding in Shropshire ticks all the boxes. Capturing the day as a Shropshire wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for a more joyful and personal celebration.
Traditional Church Ceremony in a Shropshire Village
Just a short drive away, the local village church played host to the ceremony. Guests arrived with smiles and umbrellas in hand (classic British weather!), but the star arrival was the bride arrivign in style on the back of a tractor!

The Bride’s Family Home: A Perfect Barn Wedding Backdrop

This wedding reception took place at the bride’s parents’ home: a picture-perfect setting with rolling fields and a rustic barn that was transformed with fairy lights, bunting, and jars of homegrown flowers. Everything was lovingly DIY’d by the couple and their families, which made it all the more meaningful.

From hay bales to hand drawn table signs, every corner of this venue reflected the couple’s personality. It was relaxed, charming, and full of countryside character.
A Tractor Entrance to Remember After saying their vows, the newlyweds returned to the barn in the tractor, but not before helping the videographer capture an unforgettable drone shot. With traffic paused momentarily on a winding country lane, the drone soared to capture the couple driving into the countryside, surrounded by miles of breathtaking Shropshire views. The bride and groom's grand entrance brought such a warm, light-hearted moment to the ceremony. It set the tone for a fun-filled day ahead.

Golden Hour Goals

From a photographer’s point of view, the soft light, open skies, and relaxed vibes were a dream. This is what relaxed wedding photography in Shropshire is all about.
Tug of War, a Ceilidh, and a Whole Lot of Joy
Back at the barn, the real fun began. Laughter echoed across the fields as the bridal party and guests battled it out in a hilarious game of tug of war. It was one of those moments where everyone forgot about formality and just had the best time.
A Ceilidh to End the Night on a High
As the sun set, the barn lit up and a live band kicked off a ceilidh that had absolutely everyone on their feet. The dancefloor was packed, spinning and stomping late into the night.
Why I Loved Capturing This Shropshire Wedding
As a wedding photographer in Shropshire, these are the kinds of days I love to capture. Natural, relaxed, full of laughter and love. The whole celebration felt authentic to the couple: from the DIY details to the countryside setting and the tractor ride that stole the show.
If you’re planning a barn or countryside wedding and want images that reflect the real, unfiltered joy of your day, I’d love to hear from you.
